As one of the architects of the Family Law Act, Michelle has in-depth knowledge of BC’s family law. Michelle focuses on helping couples– common law, married or same sex– who are entering or ending relationships, or who are starting a family through assisted reproduction, to understand their options under the law. She strives to help families find workable, creative and cost-effective solutions to resolve family law issues arising from separation or divorce– out of court, where possible.
Michelle is accredited by the Law Society as a family law mediator. She is a regular presenter on the Family Law Act and is a contributor to a range of education materials on family law, law reform and family violence.
Michelle identifies as part of the LGBTQ community. Michelle’s personal experience as a single mother navigating the family justice system also provides her with a unique understanding of the issues faced by clients.
