Break into song: anywhere

When the New Zealand parliament passed a marriage rights bill recently, the most extraordinary thing happened. I’m not sure why I find this so moving. Perhaps it’s because of the simple rightness of the bill. Or perhaps it’s because of the strangeness of seeing and hearing song burst so spontaneously from a crowd of people, in a place so, well, un-song-like. I love watching this. It’s Monday.
